L'oreal Casting Sunkiss Jelly 02 - First Impression

Hello beauties,

I litterally popped out this afternoon to post this and I've been so impressed with it I thought I should write up a quick First Impression post.

I have been contemplating getting hightlights for a super long time the only thing putting me off is bleach, granted my ends are dyed blonde but everything else is my natural hair, I've not dyed it or anything for the past year and a half! eeep! The thought of putting something on it that would break it and ruin all my hard work really upset me so I put highlights off. While reading a few reviews, and everyone saying it was non damaging and their hair felt exactly the same, I rushed out to buy it!

The idea is you gradually add a sunkissed look to natural hair. It advises not to use this on dyed hair which I can only assume is because it's only hydrogen peroxide. I studied hairdressing for around 5 years and from what I can work out, hydrogen peroxide is a hair stripper, removing colour and oxygen it comes into contact with. However L'Oreal have formulated this very gentle hair lightener, that within 5 uses lightens the hair to a blonde colour of your choice, Of course you can stop at any point, and apply it where ever you wish.

I as I said have blonde ends so I kept this product clear of the already dry bits. Splitting my hair into three sections, one at the nap of my neck with all my natural untouched long soft hair and clipping it all up and out of the way, I then spilt the rest into two sections either side. Putting a 10p size amount each time in my palms I then combed in the product through my roots and lengths with my fingers being sure not to touch my ends and my scalp as I am actually allergic to hydrogen peroxide however, I didn't use the gloves as I am a naughty hairdresser and never wear gloves, but my hands didn't react in the slightest to the lightener which is great, normally a 10% peroxide leaves my hands itchy and red. I think that just goes to show how gentle it is.

I then blow dried my hair, using a round brush and to be honest, it was a different experience. The forumla is similar to a thick serum and it just felt like I was blow drying in a lotion. There was no sicky residue and nothing to show I'd previously slathered the jelly in! Very impressed, next was the colour assessment although it didn't appear straight away over the course of an hour or two I started noticing very subtle but very natural highlights my medium brown hair. I will say I wasn't expecting much but with regular use I can see me buying this for a very long time. The whole process maybe took 15 minutes? Amazing! Once this lightens I'll move on to the 03 which is the lightest shade they sell.

I've put a photo of my hair below just to show you what one application can do, my hair was previously all the colour of the darker area's towards the front and underneath, a very subtle change but a good one, I'm so excited what this product will do over the next 5 uses, I'll of course try to do an update for each stage. I think the only thing I would advise is to use a protein conditioner even though it feels like no damage has been done it does strip your hair no matter which way you put it so it would be a good idea to add some goodness back in once a week!

Will you be using this gradual lightener?

The Body Shop - Japanese Cherry Blossom - Mini Purse

Hello beauties,

Hope you are having a lovely weekend. I recently posted on twitter that The Body Shop are now selling Mini Purse size versions of their Eau de toilettes and I just had to snap them up. I've only picked up one so far but I can see me getting a lot more.

The packaging is identical to the full sized fragrance mist bottles but of course is only a 10 ml dinky bottle of Eau de toilette. The packaging is super sturdy and the lid feels secure as long as it's pushed down properly. I don't know about you girls but I actually prefer little bottles like this as they are super easy to throw into a handbag for top ups on the go, or popping into your hand luggage at the airport!

The fragrance I went with is Japanese Cherry Blossom. The only way I can describe this perfume is a delicately sweet floral there also seems to be fresh scent of melon or something along those lines, it's a summery scent that I think is suitable for all occasions.

These cute little perfumes actually come in about 9 different scents, including the newer scents Fijian water lotus and Smoky rose. I really hope they add the fruit scents to this little collection as I will be buying those too! They are also only £5! which I think is a huge bonus.

What's your favourite body shop scent? and will you be purchasing these little perfumes?

Got2Be Rise 'n Shine Souffle

Hello beauties!

I've been meaning to blog all week as I've not been at work, but as it always goes I've been busier this week then I have when I've been working. I was sent a lovely package with some gorgeous hair products from Got2be I'm still working my way through them but this was the thing that stood out most for me and I could wait to use it, as you can see from the finger marks!

So the directions state you put some in your hand, massage it in to the lengths and ends for loads of volume and epic shine, I however didn't read that bit and applied it to my roots. I can't say it made it shine as I also dry shampoo'd earlier, I was sure not to put it near my hair lines in anyway and focused on rubbing it upwards from underneath. What happened was rather unexpected, yes, It gave me lots of volume and it wasn't greasy but I could feel it? it reminded me of a really strong hold clay but with the softness of .. well I don't really know what. It's a real one of product not like anything I've ever used. I also found during the day if I felt like it needed a little boost I'd fluff it up again and it was as if I had just put it in.

One thing I have to say, all the Got2Be products I've been trying out smell amazing. Especially all of the Rise 'n Shine range, this one has that 'fresh out of the hairdressers' scent we all long for. Soft, floral and girlie but not overpowering. The texture is really not like anything else i've used in all the years of being a hairdresser, whipped but still dense but once softened in your palms it becomes softer and more silky.

I would probably say this would be a good product for everyone, providing you don't mind 'feeling' a product in your hair. I personally wouldn't use this if my hair was straightened and use it when I curl for a real voluminous boost.

Have you tried any of the Got2Be range?

Degustabox June 2014 Review

Hello beauties,
I recently got sent this box from Degustabox UK which I was extremely excited to get, for the week or so before they emailed me I was fascinated with what they do.  It's like a glossybox, but with food! For £12.99 a month your sent a selection of food items straight to your door you could receive anything between 9-14 items. I honestly am in love with these boxes! Let me show you what I got inside mine.

Shaken Udder Chocolate Milkshake - I can't find much information on this one as it didn't come on the print out but I to me it's the cutest little milkshake ever, with no artificial colours, flavours or preserves.

Be Fast Breakfast - These were welcomed into our household by my fiancĂ© who doesn't really like breakfast and these are a great quick alternative you can drink on the go. High in fibre and low in fat, we got vanilla and banana flavour yum!

Veetee Basmati & Wild Rice - If you know anything about me it's that I am a rice fanatic, I enjoy rice on it's own the most so I happily accepted this into my life. We don't have a microwave so I think I might make a yummy stir fry with it this week.

Urban fruit Pineapple - Gently baked fruity goodness, I actually took these with me on a day into london last week and found they were perfect to pop into my bag and have nibble on while walking along the Thames. They also come in other flavours such as strawberry and mango which I would love to try!

Bear Alpha Bites - I have to say I am a HUGE fan of the Bear company. Everything I've tried from them I have absolutely loved this offering is a healthy cereal instead of refined sugars they use coconut blossom nectur doesn't that sound amazing?

Lambrini Strawberry - I have to say I did have a cheeky giggle when I pulled this out of the box and a rebellious teenager Lambrini was the drink of choice. I'm really looking forward to trying this one out and seeing if it brings back any memories!

Estrella Damm - I'm not the biggest beer drink but my fiance happily took this and said it was really good! I tasted a tiny sip and to me it was like a strong fosters! Originating in spain this beer apparently delicious with anything!

Dr Oetker Madagascan Vanilla Grinder - yes yes a million times yes. I adore adding vanilla to everything I bake and this is such a cute and novel way to add it. I often find vanilla beans can be slightly fiddly because of the texture but this completely eliminates all problems. I can't wait to use it!

Elizabeth Shaw Amaretto Flutes - These are the new additions to the Elizabeth Shaw range, chocolate flutes with a range of different filling these ones are amaretto and although they have a taste similar to marzipan they contain no nuts or alcohol!

I'm in love with Degusta box find them on their Facebook and Twitter . If you recieved this box what would you most like to try?
